LOCAL SHERIFF’S OFFICE OF FIRETOWN
Overview
* **Location:** Civic Ring, Firetown
* **Address:** SW Civic Ring Road 1
* **Surroundings:** Adjacent to the Federal Library of Firetown

The Local Sheriff’s Office of Firetown is the settlement’s primary law enforcement body, tasked with routine policing, investigations, and public safety. Unlike other offices, it reflects Firetown’s Individualist politics and heightened security needs, with 100 Deputies assigned to its 5,000 citizens — the largest contingent of any Local Sheriff’s Office in the Federal Confederation.

This unusually high headcount is linked to the demands of Firetown’s bustling Entertainment District, where disputes and disturbances are frequent, as well as the settlement’s location in the Ralar Region on the Dark Side, which sees regular Outlaw operations requiring heightened law enforcement presence.

Look and Feel
The Firetown office resembles a fortified bunker: thick volcanic walls, no windows, and dim interiors lit by fungi and candles. The atmosphere is heavy, with citizens entering cautiously under the watch of heavily armed deputies.

Roles and Responsibilities
**Staffing (100 Deputies + support staff)**

* **Local Sheriff (1):** Oversees all law enforcement and liaises with the Federal Sheriff
* **Deputies (100):** Patrol, investigation, riot control, and prison-related duties
* **Support Staff (10):** Reception, evidence custody, and clerical work

Public Access, Operating Hours & Rhythm
* **Public Desk Hours:** 08:00–18:00 for citizen services
* **Deputy Shifts:** Continuous 24/7 rotation due to Firetown’s high-risk profile
* **Prison Coordination:** Deputies work closely with Federal Sheriff’s team at the Federal Prison

Responsibilities
**Local Sheriff (Lucien Garcia)**
* Maintains local policing and public order
* Oversees investigations of theft, disputes, black-market activity
* Manages public safety during frequent unrest or riots

**Federal Sheriff (Oversight)**
* Handles major crimes and inter-settlement cases
* Maintains direct jurisdiction over the Federal Prison
* Monitors corruption and treaty violations, often clashing with Garcia

Security Measures
* **Restricted Access:** Holding cells and evidence storage strictly secured
* **Deputy Patrols:** Heavy patrol presence inside and outside the office
* **Analog Alert System:** Siren link to mobilize reinforcements
* **Armory Vault Controls:** Cartridge lockers; serial boards and chain-of-custody ledgers; Allotment Card verification at issue/return; seal press and stamp drawer under lock; evidence cage segregated from issue stock; shift inventory reconciliation signed by Deputy on Duty.

Player Interaction Possibilities
**Legal (Common Interactions)**
* File a crime report — theft, assault, black-market complaint
* Provide witness testimony — attend when summoned by deputies
* Report missing items — including Allotment Cards or goods
* Request mediation — settle disputes with deputy oversight
* Obtain permits — for regulated or monitored activities
* Pick up, renew, or return licensed defensive tools at the Armory Counter (distribution via the Armory Vault; issue/return logged against Allotment Cards and serials countersigned in the chain-of-custody ledger).

**Illegal**
* Bribe deputies to alter reports or release detainees
* Smuggle contraband into cells or evidence storage
* Forge GAIA-linked reports to mask black-market ties
* Infiltrate evidence chambers to steal or destroy case files

Elected Local Sheriff
**Lucien Garcia (Individualists)**
Garcia embodies Firetown’s Individualist stance, prioritizing local autonomy and resisting federal oversight. Known for corruption and ties to the Jane Mendoza Gang, he balances maintaining order with advancing his political agenda, making him a controversial yet powerful figure.

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
* **Black-Market Web:** Evidence points to deputy collusion with smugglers — players investigate or exploit the corruption
* **Riot Breakout:** Citizens clash with deputies over allotment disputes — players must mediate, protect, or provoke further unrest
* **Political Pressure:** Federal Council sends inspectors — players either aid or sabotage the inquiry into Garcia’s dealings
* **Prison Connection:** Links between the office and the nearby Federal Prison create crossover missions involving detainees, escapes, or transfers
