ATRANA RIDGE WIND FARM
Overview
 * **Location:** Morningstar
 * **Address:** Morningstar Energy Complex (Outside the townwall, 20 km north of the settlement center)
 * **Surroundings:** Perched along the Atrana Ridge crest; overlooks the Morningstar Tier‑2 ERN and sits downwind from the Morningstar Quantum Fusion Recalibration Station

Commissioned in 2626 under joint oversight by the Free State of Settlers and Morningstar’s Contact Person, the Atrana Ridge Wind Farm was a pragmatic response to the Beta Age energy crisis. Fifteen high-capacity turbines line the ridge, channeling wind energy into a dedicated Tier‑2 Trickle Energy Redistribution Node (ERN) that sustained local grids and relay stations. Despite steep slopes and erratic seasonal winds, the farm delivered an average of ~~30 MW total, marking it as the largest wind installation on VOI 700 D.

After the Great War and the Peace Treaty of 2631 barred exohumans from operating energy facilities outside their settlement walls in the Habitual Belt, the Atrana Ridge Wind Farm was decommissioned and fully deconstructed in 2632. The adjacent Tier-2 ERN and Morningstar QFRS were likewise closed as part of the treaty’s enforcement.

Architectural Significance
 * **Turbine Design:** Composite carbon-titanium blades, adaptive pitch control, active vibration dampeners
 * **Materials:** Reinforced concrete foundations, graphene-infused steel towers, corrosion-resistant nacelles
 * **Layout Intent:** Turbines spaced to minimize wake interference on the ridge crest; access corridors for maintenance vehicles
 * **Environmental Considerations:** Low-impact footings to preserve fragile mountain flora; bird-safe rotor guards

Farm Layout & Turbine Structure
**Turbine Field (Atrana Ridge)**

 * **Fifteen Turbines (ATR-1 to ATR-15):** Each rated at 2 MW nominal output, clustered in three rows following the ridge contour
 * **Access Paths:** Narrow service tracks connect turbine bases, reinforced against erosion
 * **Control Shelter:** Central monitoring hut with SCADA consoles, power conversion units, and weather telemetry arrays

Look and Feel
A constant gale roars through the turbine spans, each blade slicing the high-altitude air in near-perfect rhythm. Sharp, harmonic whistles arise as wind gusts buffet the composite blades, underscored by a deep, rolling hum from generator housings. The crisp scent of pine and metal ions mingles with a faint ozone tang at each nacelle hub. Sunlight refracts off graphene-infused towers, casting flickering patterns across weather-worn service tracks. Technicians in windproof gear hitch into viewing platforms, squinting into the spray of mist that forms when condensation meets sun-warmed metal. In the Habitual Belt’s perpetual twilight, soft amber beacons guide Hoo-drawn New Kourou Courier Carts along the ridgeline path. All around, the cool blue shimmer of the Quantum Fusion Recalibration Station, a silent testament to the farm’s vital role in Morningstar’s power network.

Roles and Responsibilities
 * **Farm Director (1):** Appointed by the Contact Person to oversee operations and liaise with Settler’s Council
 * **Lead Turbine Engineer (1):** Manages blade pitch algorithms, generator synchronization, and power flow
 * **Logistics Coordinator (1):** Schedules supply convoys for spare parts and fuel for support generators
 * **Maintenance Bots (2):** The Maintenance Bots conducted inspections, repairs, and SCADA monitoring
 * **Guarding Bots (2):** The Guarding Bots patrolled perimeter for wildlife protection and asset security

Public Access & Operations
 * **Access Level:** Restricted to authorized personnel
 * **Operational Hours:** Continuous operation; maintenance windows scheduled during seasonal low-wind periods
 * **Emergency Shutdown:** Blade lock protocols triggered at wind speeds > 120 km/h or turbine vibration > 5 mm/s

Security Measures
 * **High-Security Fence:** Electrified alloy-mesh fencing surrounding all exterior operations
 * **Guarding Trooper Patrols:** A local unit of the Guarding Troopers, assigned to Morningstar's energy sector; rotate every 6 hours
 * **Guarding Bot–Patrol:** Two stationary Guarding Bot stands watch; they are equipped with reinforced shielding and a Guarding Troopers Stun Gun. They are accompanied by a Combat Drone.

Player Interaction Possibilities
Legal interactions
 * Apply as a seasonal maintenance assistant to help recalibrate blade-pitch systems
 * Escort a supply caravan carrying rare lubrication fluids to the spare parts depot

Illegal interactions
 * Sneak onto the ridge at night to tamper with pitch controls and reduce farm output
 * Sabotage a turbine gearbox to force a shutdown and create a power crisis
 * Steal battle-grade servos from the spare parts depot for black-market sale

Tactical Advice for Dungeon Masters
 * **Power Heist –** A group of fraudsters plans to intercept a batch of recalibrated QFBs during transfer to the Tier‑1 hub nearby Morningstar. The PCs are hired to prevent the heist or quietly assist in rerouting the shipment, depending on their client.
